Pennsylvania Futurity
Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Dairy Goat Association

The Pennsylvania Futurity, as described herein is envisioned as a method of spotlighting PDGA breeders and members. It is hoped that a large number of members will take this opportunity to show their skill as breeders of productive, well conformed dairy goats. This ability can then be rewarded by the advertising value and monetary benefits resulting from winning. Does are entered as kids then re-entered yearly until they are shown as three year olds at the PDGA Big Weekend. Monetary awards are given to the top five places in each breed and the Best in Futurity winner.

Eligibility: ADGA registered does of the Alpine, Lamancha, Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian, Oberhasli, Saanen, Sable, Toggenburg, and Recorded Grade breeds. Only PDGA members for doe kids owned by them whether bred by them or bred by and purchased from another PDGA member may make nominations. Any doe sold following nominations remains eligible regardless of ownership provided subsequent re-entry fees are paid. Responsibility for re-entry fees rests entirely with the current owner.

Nomination and Re-entry: Nomination for kids will be accepted up until the doe freshens or turns two years old, however, if an animal is entered after it turns a year old, both the kid fee and yearling fee should be paid ($5 total). Re-entry fees should be made yearly in a timely manner, however, re-entry for the three year old fees must be made before the show. The official entry form should be completed in its entirety and is necessary for original nomination. When making re-entry payment please note doe’s name, DOB, and registration number. Submit fees to futurity secretary. Make payments payable to PDGA Futurity

FEES: Kid $1.00 Yearling $4.00 2 yr old $6.00 3 yr old $10.00

Determination of winners and premiums: Each year eligible three year old does will show in the futurity class following the regular three year old class in their respective breed at the PDGA Big Weekend Show. Does may show in the futurity class without being entered in the regular show, however, all PDGA show and health rules shall govern. Premiums will be paid to the top five places in each breed depending on the amount depending on entry/re-entry fees received and number of eligible does shown in that breed. The futurity winner will receive the cumulative purse and any other recognition decided upon by PDGA membership. The first place winners of each breed will compete for Best in Futurity. Ten percent of all fees will be allotted to PDGA to cover expenses. Remaining monies shall be divided as follows:

1st 30% 2nd 20% 3rd 15% 4th 10% 5th 5%

Best in Futurity 10% of all breeds. All monies not distributed shall be returned to PDGA treasury.
